Making You Smile : )

I came across this list of some of the best things in life. Reading it over just makes me smile and reminisce.

1. Falling in love.
2. Laughing so hard your face hurts.
3. A hot shower.
4. Getting packages.
5. Taking a drive on a pretty road.
6. Lying in bed listening to the rain outside.
7. Hot towels out of the dryer.
8. A bubble bath.
9. Giggling.
10. Taking a nap on the beach.
11. Finding a $20 bill in your coat from last winter.
12. Laughing at yourself.
13. Having someone tell you that you're beautiful.
14. Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.
15. Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep.
16. Playing with a new puppy.
17. Laughing for absolutely no reason at all.
18. Late night talks with your roommate that keep you from sleeping.
19. Having someone play with your hair.
20. Swinging on swings.
21. Watching a good movie cuddled up on a couch with someone you love.
22. Going to a really good concert.
23. Winning a really competitive game.
24. Watching the expression someone's face as they open a much-desired present from you.
25. Watching the sunrise/sunset.

Rain…rain…don’t go away.

I love the rain. It is so wonderful and exciting. Not only does the rain symbolize cleansing, but it is also hilarious. Every time it starts raining outside I get such an overwhelming feeling of joy. Case in point: this summer in NY, my friends and I were on our way to a party in the Bronx. When we got out of the subway it started pouring. Huge, thick, wet raindrops falling from the ski like there was no tomorrow. I started laughing because here we were, all glammed up to go out and have a fun time, and low and behold the rain washes all that glamour right off. Not to mention showing up at someone’s doorstep looking like we just went for a swim. I couldn't strop laughing. Talk about making a subtle entrance, who am I kidding?

The rain is also amazing because it forces you to slow down. Whether it be driving slower, or staying in your cozy house for the night. The rain can give you a break.

The point is… next time the skies open up take a breath and enjoy it.

Sing It Sister!

Note: If you ever see me at the gym you will probably see me lip-syncing as if I actually am Beyonce or Carrie Underwood or who ever I happen to be listening to at that moment.

My philosophy about lip-syncing at the gym: do it! I am an avid cheerleader for lip-syncing at the gym for many reasons:
1. It’s a lot of fun
2. It’s hilarious to watch someone lip-syncing
3. If someone laughs because I’m lip-syncing, and then later they go home and tell someone about it because it’s so funny to watch, then I’ve momentarily brightened two people’s day.

Dancing Queen…young and free….is so not me.

This semester I signed up for a beginning modern dance class. The first day my teacher has us all sit in a circle, introduce ourselves, and say how much dance experience we have. I was the third to last person to go and I had to sit and listen the 22 people ahead of me talk about how they’ve been dancing for five year, ten years, 15 years, etc. As each person went they also seemed to get more specific as to what types of dance they specialized in. Jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical (I don’t even know what that is), and so on. Finally when it came to be my turn I said, “For all intents and purposes I’m a beginner. BUT I have been dancing in my room…in front of my mirror for the last, I don’t know, ten years, and…I’m really good. I know everyone in here has about 35 years of dance experience on me but, you know,…watch out!” The whole class started cracking up and I am now happily known as the “room-dancing girl.”
